KADHA DOES NOT PREVENT CANCER; DOCTOR SHARES 5 TIPS TO BOOST IMMUNITY

While it’s true that many of our kitchen ingredients can help boost immunity and improve overall health, there is a lot of misinformation as well. One of them is that a warm cup of kadha or detox tea can prevent cancer.

Dr Vartika Vishwani, a Gurugram-based consultant surgical oncologist, took to her Instagram account and clarified that this is far from the truth.

“Immunity is not built with kadha, detox teas, or random supplements. It is shaped daily by your sleep, nutrition, stress levels, and movement,” she wrote, adding that quick fixes won’t help.

They don’t boost immunity, but are just marketing gimmicks. In fact, she explained that the immune system needs balance rather than boosting.

How to boost immunity

If you are wondering how to achieve it, she shared five effective tips that would help.

Vitamin D levels

Ensuring your Vitamin D levels are not low helps in more ways than one. According to Dr Vishwani, it helps in maintaining your innate immunity. It has been shown to have a protective role in cancers also. “So get your vitamin D levels checked today and correct them,” she advised.

Protein and nutrition

Protein has gained popularity and for a good reason. It helps in proper functioning of the body, including repair and maintenance of muscle tissue. “Your body needs amino acids for creating immunoglobulins and cytokines. If you are malnourished, your immunity will suffer,” the oncologist warned.

Sleep deprivation

Sleep is the most underestimated. Most of us don’t think about it, but it plays a crucial role in regulating the body’s internal clock, also known as the circadian rhythm. “The ones who are sleep deprived have more inflammatory markers in the body,” she pointed out.

Vaccination

“It is the only proven way to specifically enhance adaptive immunity, creating memory B and T cells,” she said.  They help target issues such as CPV and prevent cancers and also hepatitis B.

Exercise

According to the cancer specialist, exercise has shown to improve immunity. Physical activity whether walking, running, or strength training help the body fight better against infections. It keeps many chronic diseases at bay including cancers.

“It’s not about immune tonic, kadha, or unnecessary supplements. Your body needs a wholesome balance,” Dr Vishwani concluded.

FAQs on Cancer

1. Can kadha or detox tea prevent cancer?

No. A warm cup of kadha or detox tea cannot prevent cancer. Such “immune-boosting” drinks are mostly marketing gimmicks and quick fixes that do not build true immunity or protect you from cancer.

2. What really shapes our immunity against diseases like cancer?

Immunity is shaped daily by balanced sleep, good nutrition, stress management, and regular movement or exercise, not by random supplements, immune tonics, or detox teas.

3. How is Vitamin D related to cancer and immunity?

Adequate Vitamin D helps maintain innate immunity and has been shown to have a protective role in cancers. Checking and correcting low Vitamin D levels is important.

4. Why are protein and proper nutrition important for immunity?

Protein provides amino acids needed to create immunoglobulins and cytokines. If you are malnourished, your immunity suffers, which can affect your body’s ability to fight infections and diseases, including cancers.

5. Can lifestyle habits like sleep, vaccination, and exercise help prevent cancer?

Good sleep, appropriate vaccinations (like for HPV and hepatitis B), and regular exercise support balanced immunity and keep many chronic diseases, including some cancers, at bay.
